Ardbeg Kelpie, a limited release for Fèis Ìle 2017, is as profound as the ocean itself. This expression features whisky matured in rare virgin Black Sea oak casks, sourced from the Adyghe Republic in Russia by Dr. Bill Lumsden, expertly married with Ardbeg matured in traditional bourbon casks. Bottled at 51.7% ABV, Kelpie draws its name from the mythical water spirit known for its mysterious and shape-shifting abilities.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: An intricate dance of aromas—intense oily peat, rich dark chocolate, smoked fish, seaweed, and a sharp herbal undertone, with a wave of black pepper spice.

Palate: Bold and peppery at first, leading into a rich array of flavors: treacle toffee, Turkish coffee, smoky bacon, and dark chocolate, with unexpected bursts of peachy fruit, hickory, clove oil, and a hint of black olives.

Finish: Long-lasting, with deep notes of clove, tar, and rich toffee that linger on the palate.
