The Glenfiddich Character
Glenfiddich’s house style sits at the approachable, fruit-forward end of Speyside. Signature notes across the range: fresh pear, apple, vanilla, subtle oak, and a clean, slightly sweet finish. The distillery in Dufftown,
Speyside has been in continuous production since 1887, owned by William Grant & Sons throughout.
The Glenfiddich Range, Reviewed
Glenfiddich 12 Year Old — Rating: 8/10
Matured in American bourbon and Spanish oloroso sherry casks. Fresh pear, creamy vanilla, subtle oak, and a clean, balanced finish. An honest, consistent, and well-made whisky — ideal for introducing people to single malts. Served neat or with ice, it works beautifully.
Glenfiddich 15 Year Old Solera Reserve — Rating: 8.5/10
The Solera process keeps the batch vessel never fully empty, constantly topping it up with new whisky. This creates unusual richness — fruity, warming, with notes of marzipan, spiced oak, and fresh pear. Underrated and excellent.
Glenfiddich 18 Year Old — Rating: 9/10
Matured in American bourbon and Spanish oloroso sherry casks. Notes of dried fruit, dark toffee, oak, and warming spice with a long, complex finish. The bottle we recommend for birthdays, occasions, and serious whisky lovers. A genuine great.
Glenfiddich 21 Year Old Gran Reserva — Rating: 8.5/10
Finished in Caribbean rum casks. Tropical sweetness — banana, coconut, exotic fruit — against the backbone of traditional Glenfiddich oak and vanilla. Unusual, clever, and genuinely delicious.
Glenfiddich 23 Year Old Grand Cru — Rating: 9/10
Finished in rare French cuvée oak casks. Sophisticated and complex — honey, fresh pear, Speyside fruit, and biscuity champagne-like notes.
